Tarrazú coffees are 100% Arabica coffees and are labelled as Strictly Hard Bean (SHB). Costa Rican Tarrazú beans show high level of acidity, primarily due to the volcanic soil and the right kind of drainage. Mostly of Caturra and Catuai Arabica coffee varieties, the micro-lot beans culminate in incredibly mild & smooth finish. Other Arabica varieties include Bourbon, Villa Lobos, Villa Sarchi, Gesha and SL-28.
Cupping notes for these exquisite micro-lots are characterized by the fruity presence of citrus, apricot, berries and strawberries. You’ll like the honey-like aftertaste coupled with a good-bodied clean finish originated from the unique method of ‘honey’ processing. Tarrazú coffee beans are meant for lighter roasts to preserve the flavored complexity of chocolates, berries and nuts. Due to its varied aromatic palette and flavored offerings, Costa Rican Tarrazú simply grows on the coffee lover. It ages like old wine, tasting better with each cup.
