Organic Coffee - A trend setter?

Most people may not be aware that coffee production is categorized depending on how they are grown and produced. Organic coffee or the shade grown type and the traditional coffee or the direct sunlight varieties are the two main categorization of coffee and the two belong to two opposing sides when it comes to coffee production (both of which can be availed from Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters). In the yesteryears, coffee was shade grown and most sorts of coffee bore resemblance to organic coffee. This was so because generally coffee refuse to grow abundantly when exposed to direct sunlight, instead they grow to their best when placed under sun-blocking trees. Shade grown coffee (organic coffee) proved to grow healthier, benefiting from the fallen leaves that mulch the soil and thus retaining moisture. Such arrangement ensured that the general coffee production utilized few pesticides and fertilizers giving organic coffee growing the title of healthy production.

Eventually, over the years though, more coffee hybrids became known and more production methods were introduced including the use of direct sunlight. Unfortunately with this development, some million acres of land had to be denuded and shade trees that used to help in growing organic coffee had to be chopped down to make way for the production of non-organic coffee. Of course, only the poor farmers who were unable to afford the expensive fertilizers and pesticides stuck to growing organic coffee. As expected nutrient depletion and erosion of the soil came as a result of this switch. Now, more and more countries are trying to resolve the problem by going back to producing organic coffee full time.

Leading the list of benefits that we get from drinking organic coffee such as the ones available at Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters is the fact that organic coffee is 100 percent all natural. This is followed by the benefit that what we get from choosing organic coffee over the non-norganic one is the idea that what we are taking in our body is free from harmful chemicals such as pesticides. And the third benefit is that drinking organic coffee is actually equivalent to our helping the ecosystem getting back its balance, a vision that Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters holds.

Coffee lovers and clients of Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters attest that organic coffee tastes considerably better than traditional coffee. With an ever-increasing demand for organic coffee by consumers, coffee growers are therefore encouraged to grow coffee the organic way and urging them to stop using dangerous pesticides and fertilizers that do not only destroy the soil’s nutrient content but also ruin the environment.

It is good to note that when you buy organic coffee, you are not only benefiting health-wise, you are likewise giving the environment its much-needed boost. Each cup of organic coffee you finish supports every single farmer that works untiringly to grow them. Every decision made to buy organic coffee or drink organic coffee is a conscious decision to help the environment. Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters prides in their very humble act of doing the same thing.
