The coffee Kona offers the world is delightful and fragrant any time gourmet coffee is requested. The coffee Kona grows is hand-picked in the beautiful plantations of Hawaii and proudly offered by Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters. The growing process the coffee Kona exhibits is as pleasing to the eye as the coffee is to the palette.

Coffee Kona plants are known specifically for their picturesque flower blooms that first make their appearance in February. The flowers of the coffee Kona plant cover so much of the plant that they are often referred to as Kona snow. By the time spring rolls around the coffee Kona plant starts to grow the small green berries that will hold the actual coffee Kona beans. By the end of the summer the coffee Kona plants will begin to offer the red coffee cherries. The coffee Kona will be hand-picked a multitude of times over the next six months producing pounds of coffee Kona. Kaldi.com receives coffee Kona during the prime season and all throughout the year so that it is always fresh when ordered.

The people that hand-pick each coffee Kona cherry get paid by how many pounds they gather a day. This motivates them to pick as much coffee Kona as possible, usually 100 pounds or more each day. There is such a high demand for coffee Kona grows that there is always a need for coffee Kona. This ensures many jobs for the people of Hawaii that choose to work the coffee Kona fields.

Once the coffee Kona cherries have been picked they need to be processed. The newly picked coffee Kona cherries are placed in a hopper similar to the hoppers used with coffee bean grinders. The coffee Kona berries then pass through a pulper so that the exterior shell is removed from the coffee Kona beans inside. The pulp that has been removed is often used as a fertilizer for new coffee Kona plants. After the exterior of the coffee Kona has been removed the beans are washed by soaking in water. Next the coffee Kona beans are laid out to dry in the sun for at least one full week. If the coffee Kona beans are not moved around during the drying process they won’t fully dry out. This is usually done manually by workers on the coffee Kona farm. Once they are dry, the clean green coffee beans are shipped to Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters and other distributors where they are fresh roasted and sealed.

There are many different types of coffee Kona plants. What separates one coffee Kona style from the next is the bean content within the coffee Kona cherry. Some of the coffee Kona contains two beans per cherry and others contain just one. After they are divided by their size and shape, the coffee Kona is classified even more by other characteristics. Kaldi Gourmet Coffee Roasters reviews all of the features of the coffee Kona sends them to pass along to their customers, making sure it is the very best coffee Kona has to offer.
